Digital India was launched on Wednesday 1st July 2015 by
Prime Minister of India (Narendra Modi),
at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the national capital. It is the initiative by the Govt. of India to make
available the Govt. services to the citizens by electronically improving online foundation and increasing connectivity of the Internet network. It is the plan to provide high speed internet
network all over the India, even in the rural areas to connect digitally.
It is the big project which include:-
- Broadband in 2 lakh villages
- Universal phone connectivity
- About 400,000 public internet access points
- Wi-fi in 2.5 Lakh schools & all universities
- Public wi-fi hotspots for citizens
- 1.7 Cr trained for IT, Telecom and Electronic Jobs creations
- Direct 1.7 Cr and Indirect at least 8.5 Cr e-Governance & e-Services
- Target NET ZERO Imports

Digital India Programme is a flagship programme which has launched by the Govt. of India with the vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.
